Magical Power(s)

This power targets the caster themselves. Whilst this power is in effect, any shooting attacks directed at the caster, or a friendly model within 6" of them, will only hit on a To Hit roll of a 6. Additionally, an area within a 12" radius around the caster is illuminated as if it were daylight (perfect when you are fighting underground!). Models cannot benefit from this Magical Power if there is a piece of impassable terrain, such as a wall, directly between all parts of the model and the source of the light.

Channeled : The target's Strength is instead reduced by D3.

This power targets one enemy model within range. Whilst this power is in effect, the target model may not move ( except to Back Away should they lose a Fight), shoot, cast Magical Powers, declare Heroic Actions, call a Stand Fast! or use Active abilities, and may not Strike if they win a Duel. If the target has a piece of wargear that has an Active ability, they will still have that piece of wargear but cannot use the ability tied to it.

This power targets the caster themselves. Whilst this power is in effect, the caster causes Terror.

This power targets one enemy model within range. The caster may move the target model up to half of its maximum Move distance. They can do this even if the model has already moved this tum, though cannot move a model out of combat. The move cannot force the target to jump, leap, climb, dismount or lie down, but can take them into difficult terrain, and even make them Charge an enemy. No Courage test is required to Charge Terror-causing foes ( see page 111 ). It can even force an unengaged victim to drop an object (but not wargear) that it is holding or to put on The One Ring (if they carry it). Once the target has finished the move, it may move no further that tum for any reason.
Finally, the target suffers the effect of the lmmobilise/fransfix magical power.

Channeled : The target's Strength is instead reduced by D3.

This power may target one friendly model within range. Whilst this power is in effect, the target rolls two extra dice when taking Resist tests. These extra dice do not reduce the target's store of Will and can even be rolled if the target has no Will points remaining or chooses not to expend any Will.

This power targets one friend ly model within range. The caster can use this spell to give 1 Will point to a friend ly Hero within range. The target's Will can be increased past their starting amount, and this power can be used even if they started the game without any Will points. If the target is a Cavalry model, the caster must choose whether the rider or the mount regains the Will point.

This power targets one enemy model within range. This power only affects Spirit models. The target model automatically suffers 1 Wound, exactly as if it had been wounded in combat.
If the target is a Cavalry model, the caster must choose whether the rider or the mount suffers the effects.

Channeled : The target's Strength is instead reduced by D3.

This power targets one enemy model within range. The target is blasted D6\" directly away from the caster and knocked Prone. If the target comes into contact with another model that is Strength 5 or less, it will immediately stop and both models will be knocked Prone; this can blast a model out of combat. If the target, or one of the models that is knocked Prone, is Engaged in combat, then all the models (friend and foe) in the same Fight are also knocked Prone. The target mode] suffers one Strength 5 hit, and any other model knocked Prone suffers one Strength 3 hit. Cavalry models are treated as having rolled the Knocked Flying result on the Thrown Rider chart.
Additionally, If the target comes into contact with a piece of terrain, such as an Obstacle like a hedge, house or large rock, or a model that is Strength 6 or higher, then it will immediately stop and be knocked Prone, however the Strength 6 model will not be knocked Prone. Both the target and the Obstacle or model (if it has a Defence value) will suffer one Strength 3 hit. The caster may only use Might to improve the To Wound roll aga inst the initial target, not those hit when the target is blasted back.
Note: Even lmmobilisedffransfixed or other models unable to move will be blasted by this power.

A rare magical power that can shatter the formidable Staffs of Power belonging to the Wiuzrds, only the greatest of sorcerers and magic users can harness this power.
This power targets one enemy model within range, so long as they have a staff. This power destroys the staff of the target model. All the advantages associated with the staff are immediately lost (including the hand-and-ahalf weapon bonus).

An Infantry model with this special rule may move through woods and forests that are classified as difficult terrain as if they are open ground. Note that this doesn’t mean they can automatically climb terrain in those areas, nor move through tree trunks or jump fallen Obstacles.

If Denethor is part of the same army as Faramir, then Faramir will automatically pass all Courage tests he is forced to make whilst Denethor is alive and on the battlefield. However, whilst Denethor is on the battlefield , Faramir must always Charge an enemy model if he is able to do so.

A banner has a 3" area of effect that extends out from the model carrying the banner (although some special banners may have a larger range). If a Fight has one or more friendly models, including Supporting models, within the area of effect of one or more friendly banners, then the Fight will be affected by the banner. If a Fight is affected by a banner, then a single friendly model in that Fight may re-roll a single 06 in its Duel roll to see who wins the Fight. This re-roll can be made after your opponent has rolled their own dice to see who wins, but must be made before any Might points are spent to adjust scores.
It makes perfect sense that a banner must be flying in order for its bearer’s allies to gain the benefits of it being near, and as such a banner bearer must be standing for the effects of a banner to count. Models cannot benefit from the effects of a banner if the bearer is Prone, including any special rules associated with that banner if applicable. This includes Hero models that have a special rule that says they ’count as a banner’. However, Hero models that have a special rule that says that friendly models within a certain range count as in range of a banner can still use this if they are Prone.
It is possible that one player may re-roll a dice and find themselves winning the Fight - in which case their opponent may wish to use a banner of their own. Remember, a banner only provides one re-roll to each Duel roll. If a model is in range of multiple banners, they may only benefit from one of them.
Any model carrying a banner is encumbered by its weight, and suffers a -1 penalty to their Duel rolls.
A Warrior model carrying a banner who is slain or flees the battlefield may pass it on to a friendly Warrior model (but not to a Hero model) who is in base contact, not Prone, and is not Engaged in a Fight. Swap the models over if they are the same type of Warrior, or find a suitable banner-carrying substitute in your collection. Some common sense is required when deciding which models can carry a banner; the likes of Bats, Wargs or Spiders, for example, cannot hold a banner due to their lack of hands!

Whilst mounted, an Expert Rider may re-roll the dice when making Jump, Swim and Thrown Rider tests.

While mounted, a model carrying both a shield and a bow will still receive the +1 Defence bonus for being armed with a shield. If the model dismounts, they will lose this bonus.

Additionally, an Expert Rider can pick up Light Objects without having to dismount.

Whilst this model is mounted, they may choose to expend their own Fate points to prevent Wounds caused to their mount.

If this model is within 12" of Théoden and has the Cavalry keyword, then a model with this special rule receives a +1 bonus to their Fight value on a turn in which they Charge.

Dernhelm’ is Éowyn, Shiled Maiden of Rohan with armour and shield, with Meriadoc Brandybuck, Knight of the Mark with shield mounted as a passenger upon her horse. Both will always start mounted and together.

Whilst mounted, Dernhelm will follow all the rules provided on these pages; however, should Dernhelmbecome dismounted, revert to the profile and wargear listed above for Éowyn and use them from this pointforwards. Any Wounds suffered, or Might, Will and Fate points spent by Dernhelm will carry over to Éowyn’sprofile.

Merry follows the rules for Passengers as presented in the main rules manual, with the exception that whilst he remains Dernhelm’s passenger, he may spend his Might points to declare Heroic Actions and affect Dernhelm’s rolls in any of the usual ways. Additionally, whilst Merry is a passenger, Dernhelm also gains the benefits of his Resistant to Magic special rule. If Merry is slain, or dismounts, reduce Dernhelm’s Attacks value to 2.

Additionally, whilst within 3" of the marker Éowyn becomes Fearless and must re-roll any failed To Wound rolls. In addition, she also receives a bonus of +1 To Wound when making striked against the model that slew Théoden.
